Advisor’s Corner

Susie Chapman

How is everyone doing this month? Doesn’t seem like July already, the year is just flying by.

I have been asked recently about reporting in Alchemy. Alchemy doesn’t really have an official reporting procedure but I have a suggestion on how to retrieve data from your database.

For instance, we have a technical support database that contains all of our technical support technical notes, read me files and other technical information. If I wanted to know what document titles, for instance, were in the database, I could retrieve that information out and display in spreadsheet format.

To retrieve the document titles, right click on the database and choose ‘Retrieve Files’:

or choose the retrieve files option from the File menu.

On the Retrieve Files tab, type in a location for the retrieved file. Then select ‘Profiles’ and ‘Include sub-documents’.

Next, click on the ‘Profile Options’ tab and choose type in the location and file name for the retrieved data. Then choose the ‘Document Title’ field and select the ‘Comma-delimited’ option and press okay.

When you click OK you will see a window that tells you how many document profiles were retrieved.

Viewing the comma-delimited file in Microsoft Excel, I can see all 64 of my titles. You can choose to retrieve any of the profile field information and create your own customized report.

See you next month!

How to….. Alchemy Web Color Attributes

Jason Klinger

As you may know, Alchemy Web has more customizable features than that of previous versions. With Alchemy Web 4.0, you can customize the color schemes of your web page. To change theses attributes, you will need to open the Alchemy Web Application Configuration (Start | Programs | Alchemy).

Within the Web Application Configuration, you will need to select the Alchemy Web Site that you have created. After the site has been selected, select the option of Configure Web Display Properties. You will then get the following screen….

Under the Color Selection region, you have the option to change the colors to various regions of your web site.

Below are some examples of where the various regions are located.
