CAPTARIS ACQUIRES IMR
Dear Partner,
As you may have heard, IMR
is being acquired by Captaris. IMR's vision is to be the
leading provider of Fixed Content Management Solutions
in the markets we serve. Alchemy 8, together with the
Captaris products - Teamplate, RightFax and Interchange
- will help each of us achieve that vision for our
customers and provide each of us even more opportunity
to grow.
With this acquisition we are pleased to
bring to you the scope, scale and resources of a large
public company with over 21 years in business, a
tremendous worldwide presence and an excellent product
line and reputation. The combination of IMR and Captaris
will provide you and your customers more solutions and
more opportunity, coming from a recognized global
leader.
In the next 90 days a team of experts
from IMR and Captaris will plan the details of a joint
go-to-market strategy and operations details that will
benefit our combined company.
We are more
optimistic than ever about the long-term prospects for
success in the market with the combination of IMR and

Backups. Call your local sales person to get a rundown
of all the new features and functionality.
Congratulations to Matt Poultney for taking and passing
his American Citizenship test last week. He’s proud to
be an American now. He comes to us from the land across
the sea, Great Britain. Be sure to congratulate him if
you happen to talk with him.
Alchemy Tech Note 2004-16
Subject:
Checking for Read Group Membership rights in Active
Directory Problem: User cannot obtain license after
adding their Group to security role.
Revision
Date: August 25, 2004 Version: Alchemy 7.6 Build 225
Client can add Active Directory users without any
issues, but if they remove the user and add the group
that the user belongs to then they are unable to obtain
a license.
This usually means that the Read Group
Membership is not set to allow. This has been most
prevalent in environments where the Domain has been
migrated from NT4 to Windows 2000 or 2003.
To
check for this setting…
Bring up the Active
Directory – Users & Computers console and make sure the
“Advanced features” view is checked in the view menu.

Then double click on the users folder
to display all groups and user names in the right pane.
Right click on the user name and select “Properties”.
Then select the “Security” tab to display the user
Permissions. Scroll down and find the “Read Group
Membership and make sure the “Allow” box is checked.
